permissions and mp3 files...

Should mp3's be executable? Because I just realized that my entire collection is executable, and I'm not sure if this is an accident or not...

No they shouldn't...  but mine all are too.  Did you move them from a fat32/ntfs drive?

No, I moved them from an ext2 drive. But I was running all kinds of scripts on them, so one of them may have messed with permissions somehow. Anyway, thanks.

Hey, I had the same thing happen too when I transfered mp3's from an ntfs to a fat32 drive. Is this a normal permission problem? Or have I been hacked and that means it's unsafe to try playing the mp3's?

Most of the time I've seen this is when moving things around on a flash drive. FAT is stupid and the permissions are part of the proof.
