Function keys

Is there any way to implement function key functionality into Arch Linux? It works partially in Ubuntu (only sound keys, but that's all I use). What software does Ubuntu use for the laptop function keys. I've checked the Wiki but it only found things about assigning hot keys which I would need to do manually, I would imagine there is software out there that does these keys automatically.

Thanks.

Re: Function keys

map that keys in gnome using System->Preferences->Keyboars Shorcuts.

other function key for e.g fn+f1 you need to map that in hal.
more info about that: http://people.freedesktop.org/~hughsien … index.html

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Re: Function keys

I was able to get my volume keys working with keyboard shortcuts in XFCE

This is the Arch wiki entry: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Extra_Keyboard_Keys

This is what I used to set it up in XFCE: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Hotkeys see: Printing characters in X
