Hi All,

Does anybody know if pcmanfm supports browsing remote folders via ftp and scp?
If so, how to do it?

Thanks a lot.

Pcman doesn't do that. Others probably do, like Konqueror/Dolphin and smb4k.

I am not using them, however. Siunce the hasty move to kde4 I am avoiding any kde stuff.

I simply mount remote folders. There you have several options: samba, nfs, fuse.

There are some more esoteric ones, like curlftpfs.

Being mounted, for pcmanfm they are local folders.

The latest version of PCmanFM is supporting smb, ftp and other network stuff, in some kind of alpha version. The version is 0.4.4.2. I do not remember exactly from where I got that version, but you can try the latest download from here.

Regards.

Not with samba. For that I use curlftpfs. Take a look at:

To add to what Mektub said, curlftpfs works with pcmanfm and is blazing fast.

Thanks for replies.

I found some discussions on the internet and even saw the screenshot but not hints how to make it work sad.

But do you mount FTP/SSh folders manually or pcmanfm does it for you? I cannot find any Connection Setting Dialogs in pcmanfm

Thanks

Re: [SOLVED] Pcmanfm and remote folders browsing

Ok. The truth was found.

It seems that remote file system support is experimental and only in 0.4.4.2 .
I installed pcmanfm from aur
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=19944

Hope these features will be available in newer versions of pcmanfm.

Cheers
