weechat + sonata

I use this python script for displaying the current song in sonata into an irc channel. http://weechat.flashtux.org/scripts/weesonata.py
But since the latest version of sonata rolled out the script no longer works.
I can't really see the error message because it kind of just borks up my screen session.

Does anyone else use this script?

Sorry, but what use is a mpd script that relies on a special client?
Use a proper mpd script...

this possibly still needs mpc (which is also a client) but its definately the better solution

Now if I didn't need Sonata running to submit tracks to last.fm I would be happy and I wouldn't need Sonata at all anymore.
