Hi, i made a program that shows gtk bar when you change your volume, its very simmilar to one that gnome has, here is the screenshot:
it is written in python (requires pygtk, dbus-python and python-pyalsaaudio), but you do not have to have all the gnome or xfce or kde dependencies. I just missed this feature from gnome(i dont use it anymore, now love xfce), so i made it, I would love to share it with you, but i am not able to write all these install things, PKGBUILD's and etc, but if somebody would like to make all these things, or just get the files, just write me an email.

I would like to try your python script, can't you post it somewhere?

I assumed valdas's script was a sort of daemon listening for changes in volume: that is it displayed the bar whenever any program raised/lowered the volume.
But since there is no link to the script to try, I think I'll try bruenig's: thank you
