i've got everything going with Arch64 except for the webcam. The kernel (2.6.26) comes with linux-uvc, but
that doesn't seem to make it fly.

What do you mean it doesn't seam to make it fly? I have the exact same messages in dmesg and my webcam works... Have you tested it with some application like cheese?

Sorry for the vague language. The webcam doesn't seem to work. I've tried cheese, skype and ekiga. Both skype and ekiga can't find the webcam.
Cheese simply dies when started, here's the output:
