HP Pavillion dv2000 (dv2810us)

Hello.

Well... no one else seems to have one of this little buggers. so i'm startnig the thread.
to help others and to get assistance ofcourse.


Specs:
Cpu: turion x2 tk 60 at 800 - 1600 - 1800 - 2000 Mhz
Ram: 3gb ddr2 667Mhz
Hdd: fujitsu 250Gb drive
Touchpad: APLS
Video: GeForce 7150 on a 630 chipset.
Hp Webcam: ?
Sound: HD
Wireless: Broadcom 4312 rev 1


SO: Archlinux 32bits./gnome


Followed the Beginners guide but failed to get the wireless working with the b43 module.
b43 installs, gets firmware but it does not create the wlan0 interface.

excelent. thx for such a quick response.

i will follow that.


TIP: for others, when you update... acpi stops working.
during boot up process in the first hungup press power button once
after that (at the second hung-up) press and keep pressed shift key till bootup's done.

to get the cpu scaling:

pacman -S frequtils

add in rc.conf
loaded modules powernow-k8 cpufreq-conservative cpufreq-powersaver
loaded daemons cpufreq

edited /etc/conf.d/cpufreq
with correct values

webcam works out of the box.

I actually got rid of this "having to press the power button" problem by adding

nolapic-timer

to the kernel line.
At least this works on my HP pavillion dv6845eo laptop.

do still get all the functionality from acpi module?

and, by the displayed method of intalling this broadcom module, if there is an upgrade in the kernel i must recompile my wireless. do i?

I don't really use any of the acpi stuff (that I know of smile ). Only cpu scaling, and that works. I don't even know if acpi is required for that.

i'm sticking with my method. does not cost me a lot, and loads way faster.
till there's a new upgrade...

but i'm having trouble with the suspend action.
can't restore...

i would lovely accept any suggestion.

ok... just an update ... did a few weeks ago a simple pacman -Syuu and things are working fine now.
and installed with yaourt a broadcom package, and i've to say thanks!
