KPatience Crash - Is It Just Me?

Before anyone asks, I'm planning on filing a bug report on this, I just want to know if it's specific to my graphics card.

I enjoy playing Solitaire at random times througout the day, and I really like the new KPatience that comes with kde4. The problem is that when I play it for a while, my computer will crash and reboot. Instantly.
I'm pretty sure it has to do with the graphics card, my theory being that for an application to cause a hard reboot, it is required that some hardware component's firmware crash, which points to the graphics card.
So far, I've only tried Klondike (after the first two crashes, I haven't tried Spider). The crash doesn't seem to be predictable, other than that it always occurs when I put down a card. Or it has so far, anyway.

This is my graphics card in lspci: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G72 [GeForce 7300 LE] (rev a1)

I haven't experienced a crash like this in any other application.

I'll put up a bug report in a few days, it's not like there'll be an instant fix, so I don't see it as an urgent issue.

Has anyone else encountered a problem similar to this?

Hello,

I play Klondike (draw 3) for 20 minutes, or so, every day.
I have never had any problems, although CPU usage gets high as the
game calculates one's chance of winning.
Is it possible that your CPU's heatsink is full of "dust bunnies"?

Re: KPatience Crash - Is It Just Me?

Nope, the CPU and heatsink are brand new, the heatsink is... insane, and the CPU actually runs cooler than the motherboard. They both sit just below 40*C.

I will check the graphics card though, it's reused, was a very cheap card, and is only in place so I can get away from the ATI integrated graphics on the mobo. They were completely locking my system for a moment every so often when KWin was running 3d effects.

It's strange though, because I haven't had this problem with any other application.

Re: KPatience Crash - Is It Just Me?

Hi

kpat crashes for me when playing gypsy.
I usually play "to relax" spider, gypsy, klondike, golf and freecell.
For what I noticed, it only crashes with gypsy.
It may occur 5 minutes after having started the game, but it may crash just 2 seconds after having launched th game.
And sometimes it does not even crash ...

csergec,

You do realize that you responded to a 2+ year old thread?  Generally I would close the thread at this point, but your problem does seem to relate to the ancient thread.

Re: KPatience Crash - Is It Just Me?

Actually i did notice the date thread after I clicked on the submit button....
After the kde packages update to the 4.7 version, the crashes started.
Who knows? Maybe it happens to other people too.
