Isn't this kinda strange, a packages installed as an dep, and "unrequired" according to pacman. But it is required by vlc....

Don't you actually want to check out pacman -Qi wxgtk-2.6? You're looking at the 2.8 version there (wxgtk v. wxgtk-2.6)

Just remove the old version (as you've somehow managed to install the new one without removing the old one)

pacman -Rsn $(pacman -Qqdt)
