[SOLVED]Can't turn on wireless card on Dell e1505

I have the drivers installed for the card.

iwconfig returns:

wlan0     IEEE 802.11  ESSID:""
          Mode:Managed  Frequency:2.412 GHz  Access Point: Not-Associated
          Tx-Power=0 dBm
          Retry min limit:7   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr=2352 B
          Link Quality:0  Signal level:0  Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0  Rx invalid crypt:0  Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0  Invalid misc:0   Missed beacon:0

The problem is that my fn-f2 hotkey to turn on the wireless card isn't set up.
I have no idea how I would go about setting it up. I searched around and can't find anything.
I don't really need any of the other hotkeys (though it wouldn't be bad to have them), just that one.

Or if someone knows of another way to get the wireless card turned on, that would be great as well.

I happen to have this notebook and everything works fine here...
Maybe it's just the led that isn't turned on? What ways of connecting have you tried?

Or maybe it's turned off in the BIOS...

Well, actually you're right. The only reason I say its not on is because of the led.

What program would I use?
I've only used Ubuntu prior to this, so the only network program I've used is nm-applet. And I can't find that here on Arch.

Does iwlist scanning give you anything?

Also, it would help to know what card you have.  The broadcom card just recently started working(at least for me) with b43(used ndiswrapper before).  And it works great.  YAY aircrack.

Netcfg2 is awesome so I would use that.

I am also on a Dell E1505. smile

If you want to use NetworkManager in GNOME, install gnome-network-manager; however, I don't think that using a particular wireless network management application will end your <Fn><F2> woes.

If I understand correctly, the <Fn> key controls are at least primarily managed at a "lower level." I seem to recall encountering some related wireless control setting(s) in the BIOS, but I might be mistaken.

ok, the card seems to be actually working now, led turns on, can see it in iwconfig.
------------------
AAAHH. I tried to see if the fn-f2 hotkey worked, so I did it and the card turned off. Now, apparently, the hotkey doesn't work the other way and it won't turn back on. Even after restarting it doesn't turn back on...

Option "XkbModel" "dell101"
