alsa-oss?

I did pacman -S alsa-oss to install alsa-oss...  But did it work?

[root@c68 tom]# locate -u
[root@c68 tom]# exit
exit
[tom@c68 tom]$ locate alsa-oss
/var/cache/pacman/pkg/alsa-oss-1.0.5-1.pkg.tar.gz
/var/lib/pacman/local/alsa-oss-1.0.5-1
/var/lib/pacman/local/alsa-oss-1.0.5-1/desc
/var/lib/pacman/local/alsa-oss-1.0.5-1/files
/var/lib/pacman/local/alsa-oss-1.0.5-1/depends
/var/lib/pacman/current/alsa-oss-1.0.5-1
/var/lib/pacman/current/alsa-oss-1.0.5-1/desc
/var/lib/pacman/current/alsa-oss-1.0.5-1/depends

Hmm...  Maybe that's why the GNOME mixer can't find any devices...  Anybody else have this problem?

Re: alsa-oss?

Do you have your permissions set right? That's the most common problem with the oss system under alsa. To change the permissions on startup so all users can access them, add this to your /etc/rc.local file

chmod 666 /dev/sound/*

The suggestion box only accepts patches.
