Hi all
After upgrading to KDE 4.1 the tv-out of nvidia suddenly stopped working. to be more specific I should say that there is output but it's a black screen and as soon as I move the mouse over the 2nd screen (tv) it appears as a cross.
If I shutdown KDE then I get normal picture of the console or even the PC's booting messages. So I figure there is something wrong with KDE 4.1 and nvidia driver.
Does anyone have a similar problem? I'd like to believe that next nvidia driver will address this issue but it takes it so long to get released and that's why I'm asking just in case someone has found a workaround.
thanks

Same problem here.
The only way to have color on tv, is to set
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "TV"
on xorg.conf, but this way I have signal only on TV.
Using nvidia 177.78 beta driver, same problem with stable driver.
The problem started when upgraded to kde3 from kde4.
I will try using two different xorg.conf files, for screen and TV.

Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT,TV"
Doesnt work?, also replace CRT with DFP if using digital connections.
TVStandard might be other thing. I noticed I needed NOT to set it to get colors (even if it had right value).

No, it doesnt work.
If I use Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP,TV" I have signal only on my LCD screen.

warlord : do you use 2 screens or clone desktop setup (like twin view)? I'm using 2 screens and when I tried twinview it didn't work. Have you tried twinview option?

I am using twinview

so it doesn't work either way!
I also posted the problem at nvnews forum but didn't get any answer. Looks like not many people use tvout!

unfortunately new 177.80 driver doesn't fix it

I use nvidia TV out on my media PC. It runs (almost) latest arch linux. I updated it last weekend (IIRC).
My xorg needed the following lines in the "Device" section
Option "TwinView"
Option "TwinViewOrientation" "Clone"
Option "MetaModes" "800x600,800x600;640x480,640x480"
Option "SecondMonitorHorizSync" "25-50"
Option "SecondMonitorVertRefresh" "50"
Option "NvAGP" "1"
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT, TV"
Option "TVStandard" "PAL-B"
Hope this helps you solve your problems.

madeye, what nvidia card do you have?
Offline
I can't get it to work by using either twinview, clone (tried madeye's options) or 2 separate screens (like I used to have)

With nvidia beta 180.08 everything works fine.
Using clone desktop (twinview)
