Hi,
I'm trying to downgrade hplip, as the latest update has messed about with my photo printing and now leaves ugly white borders around everything. I've tried downgrading to the previous version which worked fine, but pacman returns the message:
bash-3.2# pacman -U hplip-2.8.7-2-i686.pkg.tar.gz
loading package data...
error: 'hplip-2.8.7-2-i686.pkg.tar.gz': cannot open package file
Am I missing something obvious here? Any help gratefully received.
Thanks,
Igzilla

do a "ls" in that directory and see if hplip-2.8.7-2-i686.pkg.tar.gz is there

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

When using pacman -U you have to specify the specific file (with full path if necessary). I think the above error message can be translated as "Cant find hplip-2.8.7-2-i686.pkg.tar.gz file".
