Unable to get network during install

During the install I select I want to run dhcp, but I get a bogus ip and cant ping anything.
I went back and did input the ip, and other details, manually. Still, I couldnt ping anything.
I tried one more time, selecting the "probe" menu item. The module was found. I redid the above steps, but no changes.

After killing the dhcp daemon (it was still running from my earlier attempts), I ran "/sbin/dhcpd eth0" (at least I think dhcpd was in there) but it gives: "Error, eth0: timed out".

This is with the 2007.08 livecd. I used that one since the latest wouldnt even boot, thread about that here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=55954

Downloaded the iso here: ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/iso/2007.08/i68 … -2.ftp.iso

Any ideas as to why? The connection is (obviously) working under windows.

Re: Unable to get network during install

Just tried it at work now, got no network here either.

According to the device manager, the NIC is a:
Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC

Re: Unable to get network during install

Same problem than you, with same equipment (me Realtek RTL8168/8111)
But it works in Ubuntu and other big distros like vector or gos
So I'll install dhclient (instead of dhcpcd) by downloading each package required on arch servers (we can find dependencies with package search here on archlinux.org)  and coying them in arch

You mean you download that client and its dependencies and copy them to the livecd?
