fairly self explanatory, but i've recently noticed that open office isn't thumbnailing .odt files anymore.
i don't actually know when it stopped doing this, but i'd probably have to say within the past week or so, so unfortunately, i don't know which exact package or update had caused this. i googled around and some people mentioned a 'tracker' which kept track (duh!) of the file previewing, but arch doesn't appear to have that in its repo, so i'm assuming that our OpenOffice already has it, or it's somehow been turned off.
keep in mind this in no way really harms me or my work with open office, but is just something that i enjoyed in the past and was wondering if anyone was experiencing anything similar.
thanks for your time!

What you mean with 'thumbnailing'? You mean when you open your file manager it shows the first page of the document? I think it's not related directly to OO, but with the file manager itself.

sorry, i should've been more clear:
let's say i have a document on the desktop named stuff.odt - it should, after a brief period of time, display a miniature thumbnail, a preview if you will, of what's contained in the actual document, as opposed to the generic 'text document' icon.

Sorry for the long time without answer.
Well, as I said, the ability to thumbnail a document on the desktop is related to the file manager you're using, not to OpenOffice, AFAIK.
I'm not sure about what package you should install so you can see this preview, though.

back again.
somehow, someway, my files are back to their old self - open office is displaying attractive 'previews' again, as opposed to the clunky-looking older icons. ran a system update and didn't initially notice any changes but now things are fine.
i've no real idea why, but if anyone does, i'd gladly listen!
