Problem with Shaman

Whenever I try to install or remove something with Shaman I always get the following error:

Alpm did not give further details.

I tried googling and searching the forums but did not find anything.

Re: Problem with Shaman

I get this error quite often, when I lose my wifi signal. May be that?

Re: Problem with Shaman

Can you run it from the command line and post the output?

He means open a terminal, and run

shaman

Then, when the errors occur, copy and paste the terminal output here for us.

Re: Problem with Shaman

Try clearing out the config file - "rm -rf ~/.config/shaman".    Does pacman work without trouble?

Try a post to the shaman forums/bug tracker.  The developer is very good at responding to packages.

Re: Problem with Shaman

Getting the same problem here. Anyone got a solution?

Edit : Shaman works as root, but I want to run shaman as unprivileged user.

Re: Problem with Shaman

I have 64-bit on my box. I'm so used to starting my apps with gnome-do now, so I don't want to break my workflow smile

Re: Problem with Shaman

You just have to clear the pacman lock and everything shouldwork, at least that's when I get the alpm error.

sudo rm /var/lib/pacman/db.lck

Arch x86_64 ATI AMD APU KDE frameworks 5
---------------------------------
Whatever I do, I always end up with something horribly mis-configured.

Does not work here. The lock file has been cleared alright, ie /var/lib/pacman/db.lck does not exist. It has something to do with shaman failing to auth as root when i give the root passwort (console output:Auth failed!) So the reason why shaman works when we start as root is because it already runs a root and does not need to get the root pass to continue.

In short: Somewhere between getting the root password and starting processes as root shaman fails.

I have the same problem. But shaman works perfectly when I run it as root.

Re: Problem with Shaman

I had this weird problem once that LaTeX2rtf (afaik pacman needs this) was gone. I couldn't get some of the packages, and shaman returned that same error. Strangely enough, after I've typed in pacman -Sy the problem was gone.
