Re: is it archlinux or arch linux

Yeah, I give up on this, and yes for me consistency does matter.

I'm with kensai on this one. Without consistency it just seems unprofessional.

But nobody on the dev team is a professional Arch dev.  This isn't a "professional" project.  Why does Arch have to look professional?  This feels like a big bikeshed to me - all over a single space.

I wholeheartedly disagree, I'm a professional in everything I do. Being paid is what makes it professional? No. And Arch Linux is professional, if it is meant to be a joke, then I haven't read it anywhere yet, can someone enlighten me on this? I see how constant the community growth, and the coverage of Arch Linux on the net is, enough for me to care about it.

Re: is it archlinux or arch linux

OK, it seems we have different views on what it means to be 'professional'.  I wasn't meaning to offend, if that's what I did, so apologies.

I've been a part of Arch for as long as I have because it's "fun".  Arguments like these (and yes, it's devolving into an argument, over a single space in the name, for goodness sake), are decidedly not fun.  This is clearly more important to some people than it is to other people.  Kensai cares deeply about it, I don't care at all.

The original poster asked because, apparently, they were somewhat confused.  I don't think it's ever been discussed before.  People currently use it both ways. If you must have a definitive answer, and one of the two spellings must win over the other, ask Aaron.  He can stamp his foot down and say one or the other (or both!), and it's done.

Call me alarmist, but I don't see this thread going anywhere productive from here on out.  Closed.
