Hey guys,
this is my first post here and i'll start it with a problem
Recently i once again thought about changing from Amarok to MPD for flexibility and speed reasons. Longer time ago i made good experiences with gmpc. Then i saw, that the version offered on Pacman is a bit out of date. Since that version a better one with new cool features arrived.
So i downloaded the sources and started compiling doing the standart routine (./configure, make, make install). After running the configure script it told me, that im using a to old version of libmpd. So i downloaded the newest sources for that and then compiled it. That worked fine.
Now i started trying to compile gmpc again. But at the configuring part it stopped and said that it couldn't find the libmpd package installed. Since that i have done all described in the installation notes like
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib/pkgconfig/
locate libmpd says:
/usr/include/libmpd
/usr/lib/libmpd.a
/usr/lib/libmpd.so
/usr/lib/libmpd.so.0
/usr/lib/libmpd.so.0.0.0
/usr/lib/pkgconfig/libmpd.pc
/var/lib/pacman/local/libmpd-0.15.0-1
/var/lib/pacman/sync/extra/libmpd-0.15.0-1
/var/lib/pacman/sync/extra/libmpd-0.15.0-1/depends
/var/lib/pacman/sync/extra/libmpd-0.15.0-1/desc
Where is my fault? I only used the sources offered at the gmpc page (libmpd and gmpc).

odd.
Give sonata a shot (pacman -S sonata), I moved to it from gmpc, and it's written by an Arch user.
edit: oh, and welcome to the forums!

I finally got it to work using the newest libmpd from git repository but now i'm having problems finding a way to show up Covers. The plugin mdcover doesn't really work...
But thanks so far ... solved
