Hello,
Some of the larger distributions (eg. Redhat, Debian) have a package called
"am-utils" which facilitates, for example, automounting file systems over a
LAN (eg. via nfs) without having to make fstab entries, etc. Large groups
who do scientific research find this a very convenient way to access large
data sets which are stored on RAID arrays (this is precisely what I am trying
to do at the moment...).
It would be nice if Arch Linux had a similar package.
thanks.
see, eg.: http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=am-utils

It would also be nice if you did as advised in the sticky at the top of this board i.e. provide as much information as possible about the package you want, in particular a link to the source code.
Links to packages from other distros are not very helpful.

sorry, it's http://www.am-utils.org
apparently it is the Berkeley Automounter suite of code.
I poked around my system some more and at first thought that
autofs might be effectively the same thing, but looking at the
config files on a system (debian) which has am-utils working
and comparing those to the autofs config files, I see that they
are quite differerent.
