Theme will not install in E17

I recently began toying with Enlightenment (E17). I have it running in Virtualbox and so far so good for a piece of software still in pre-alpha. One issue I am having is I am unable to install the "Grunge" theme found here: http://exchange.enlightenment.org/theme/show/154 . I downloaded it, installed it (seemed to install fine), and when I try to apply it the only thing that is still functional is the "shelf" at the bottom. The shelf takes on the grunge theme, and the desktop wallpaper goes black and is unusable. I can't click on the desktop and get a menu. The theme background does not get applied, it seems like it flashes once (the theme background), then just goes black. So I have to use the shelf menu to open up the theme switcher and go to something else. Something I am doing wrong?

Your prob not doing anything wrong , but E is still very alpha when it comes to themes and a overnight change can cause it not to work at all.

JawsThemeSwimming428, It's working fine here. Is your system up to date?

Most of the core of E17 is at or very near 1.0 status.

the theme works fine here as well. Just guessing, but maybe it's a bug in the theme which only appears if certain modules are loaded?

What modules do you have loaded?

Re: Theme will not install in E17

I was going to wait until pressh answered, but he's not here yet. For me it's pretty minimal on modules. When I tested Grunge this time I had all of the default configuration modules, drop shadow, IBar, IBox, TClock, and the run command only. This is my normal setup.

Re: Theme will not install in E17

I unloaded all modules other than the ones you listed, rebooted, and tried to apply the grunge theme again. Didn't work, any ideas?

Could it be anything to do with Virtualbox and/or running in a VM?

Re: Theme will not install in E17

Every theme that I've tried from Enlightenment Exchange works for me other than a couple of small glitches in Japan. The only theme weirdness that I can think of is that I have to change the Theme Selector screen from Advanced to Basic in order for me to get any themes to work, but I doubt that it has anything to do with what you're talking about. Other themes are working fine for you? I have both Simply White and Black and White installed and both are functioning flawlessly.

I have no experience at all with virtualization software, so no help there. That's about the end of my ideas.

I hardly doubt it would be due to running in a VM (although I don't use it myself so I can't be sure). I would say if one theme works, the others should work too...it's weird.

Can you try installing the theme for all users (as root):

   install -Dm644 $theme.edj /usr/share/enlightenment/data/themes/$theme.edj

substitude the themename for $theme of course wink

And don't forget you installed the theme there as pacman does not know about it (or write a PKGBUILD to do it for you of course)
