"Active Directory" for linux?

Hi,

Suppose we have a small network of windows machines and a linux server. Well, we can't exactly use Active Directory on the linux machine can we? What is the best authentication mechanism for this situation? Is there an emulation for Active Directory on linux?

Thanks!

Thanks skottish.

Doing a little bit of reading, I didn't see that Windows machines would work with NIS. Am I wrong on this?

Would I use Samba + LDAP? I didn't see any useful information on what I steps I need to take in the Wiki.

You need to install an RTFM interface.
