Cups doesnt work

whenever i load up the printer module from the kde control center i get this error:

Unable to retrieve the printer list. Error message received from manager:
Connection to CUPS server failed. Check that the CUPS server is correctly installed and running. Error: localhost: read failed (14).

i found out that cups wasnt installed so i installed it, i have no idea if any further configuration is required. the printer im trying to use i connected to my pc.

Re: Cups doesnt work

You probably also want to add yourself to the "lp" group

Re: Cups doesnt work

You'll also need to install the proper printer driver, this is a good place to find the driver that your printer needs. The CUPS wiki has all the info you will need, I recommend using the web interface because it's easy to use and is installed along with CUPS.

Re: Cups doesnt work

Have you added the CUPS daemon to your rc.conf?
