[Solved]Smplayer takes long time to play videos

whenever i try to play a file with Smplayer, it takes lots of time.
However finally it plays the file nicely, how it takes lot of time to play.
earlier this was not the case, it used to play quickly

Perhaps try a different video decoder? In smplayer you should be able to specify options to mplayer; you'll want -vo gl or -vo xv.

I am sorry, but i don't know how the change the decoder. please guide
Also, the same decoder works fine when i play videos directly via Mplayer CLI.

hello,
start smplayer , And from main window Options-> Preferences -> General -> General (tab)
type "xv," or "gl," in the field under "Output drivers" and click "Apply" and "Ok"
Please check "cache" settings under "Performance" Tab. Reduce cache if it is set too high. High cache settings may delay the start of play for filling the cache. Wish U good luck.

Solved it!
I had "Disable Screensaver" Option Checked.
This was causing problems as i didn't have xscreensaver package installed.

Unticking this solved my issue
