Video & thumbnails problem

I was re-organizing my home directory when I noticed that:

1.) A lot of my video files (most mpg & avi, and some mov files) aren't displaying thumbnails in nautilus.

2.) A lot of my *.mov files don't have sound anymore.

These videos and thumbnails used to (very recently) work perfectly.

Anyone with the same problems/solution?

Re: Video & thumbnails problem

Had the same problem, and wiping almost all .g* and .G* dirs in my home directory (I think I tried just the gnome dirs first, then .gtk*) fixed it for a while. Then it was back to the same old again - the icons I already had generated was there, but N refused to generate new ones. Strange thing, the command that generates the thumbs worked from command line. Just one of several small annoying things with Gnome. It could be just the Arch packages, but I remember "small annoying things" was the reason I went for KDE back when I started using Linux regulary with Redhat 8 too.
I'll probably try 2.8 when it comes out too, but I'm not very optimistic. KDE is far from flawless, but feels more mature than Gnome. Just my humble opinion.

Re: Video & thumbnails problem

but solution is simple, remove line with path to icon of broken mime type in your ~/.gnome/mime-info/user.keys (it is unbeauty trick but it work)
