Installing arch on eee 1000h

Hi everyone. I have just bought an eeePC 1000H. However, after reading all the stuff in the wiki and trying to search in the forums, I haven't been able to setup the system. I have just downloaded the CORE install to an usb and installed it on a partition in the HD. Fine, now I am stuck without ethernet or wifi support. I have tried to install the atl1e PKGBUILD, but I get missing dependencies. However, how am I supposed to install the dependencies if I can't access internet and install everything with pacman? I must download all to my usb? I would appreciate some help as the eee and ee901 wikis seem to be written for expert people in archlinux. I don't even know how to install a cutomized kernel sad

Thanks.

Edit: I remember having installed the system on my old pc, however I was able to choose many package "lists" appart from CORE-DEVEL. Is it because it was a FTP install? I used the CORE-DEVEL install as the wiki said because ethernet is unavailable in a fresh USB boot.

Re: Installing arch on eee 1000h

I just got mine yesterday, and now it's running Arch just fine. I followed the instructions the 901 wiki page mostly. I did a core-devel USB install (though just core should be fine), then put the zen-eee901 kernel package on a USB stick, installed it with pacman -U, and added the GRUB entry from the wiki page. After booting into the new kernel, all the hardware worked fine (I haven't tested ethernet yet, but wireless worked fine) and I went to installing packages as normal.
Hope this helps you out!

Re: Installing arch on eee 1000h

Thanks theneutralnewt, I have read the 901 guide but I am beginning to think I am a bit retarded. What package do I have to download? The PKGBUILD? what exactly is the "zen-ee901 kernel package"? All the files? Just one of them? I guess these are very elemental questions but I can't seem to find any information about installing kernels in the wiki...

Thanks

EDIT: After some research, pacman -U must receive a .pkg.tar.gz. I found them. Sorry for the mess. I am proceeding to install them. Thanks!

Read about AUR and ABS in the wiki.

Re: Installing arch on eee 1000h

Nice, pacman -U tries to install the package however, it could not satisfy dependecies. How am I supposed to satisfy them if I can't get them from the Internet? I have to select them when installing arch, from the core-devel? It requires acpid, vbetool, xorg-xauth and bc. I fear those packages will also have their own dependencies, don't they?

Re: Installing arch on eee 1000h

They're from the extra repo. Use pacman -Si to check dependencies for those 4 packages, pacman -Sp to get links to packages. Download all base packages and dependencies with wget and copy to your pendrive.

Yeah, it ain't easy getting your distro of choice to work on those netbooks ;-)

Re: Installing arch on eee 1000h

Is the zen-eee901 customized kernel needed after the 2.6.27? The 1000H ethernet is recognised with the new kernel...
