Why there is a RC version of openoffice in extra in place of the stable one? I think it's better to wait a few more weeks to have a stable version. Arch should ship the latest stable software.

Because it is the fourth release candidate and should be released unchanged as the final version (apparently it will be on Tuesday...).

I had to rollback the update since OpenOffice freezes all the time now, mostly when using the menu.

Don't like it, don't use it and stick with the stable 2.4 version until the final release of 3 is done and in the repos. Personally, I'm glad of the choice, since Oo3 is a very nice step up and (since they fixed a nasty bug in presentation where text boxes and pictures weren't moveable) the beta / RC's have been very useable.
Choice is the joy of linux and rolling release / easy upgrades when available is the joy of Arch! ![]()
