Openoffice depends on python?

I think python is an optional dep, just like java.

I started Arch 2 weeks ago, and it's great.
I managed to installe a clean destop system with out qt/mono/java/python.
Happy.

Re: Openoffice depends on python?

I think python is needed for the extension system from memory, so it may well be an optional dep.  If you want to investigate, try uninstalling python (using the -Rd flag) and see if openoffice breaks breaks...  If not, you could file a feature request to have it made an optdep.

Allan:
OOo works fine without python. Think of that few people have python on their win32 box.
I tried to import sun's pdf import extension, and failed with or without python.
I think we need a package of this opensource extension, for it's the most attractive feature of OOo3.

arch0r:
I was a redhat/fedora user, their distro heavily heavily depends on python.
  Besides, I don't python. :-)
