VirtualBox spiking CPU usage

VirtualBox (OSE edition from the repos) seems to be eating up CPU cycles like crazy.  (50-100%)
This happens when any application in my VM is open. And I mean just open, I don't have to be doing anything in it.
I haven't used it much recently but I think I remember it didn't behave like this before the last update.

Anyone else having these kind of problems ?

Re: VirtualBox spiking CPU usage

I have one core constantly at around 90-100%. The same vdi file on a XP host behaves nicely. No processor usage while idle.

I am using the PUEL version, and have found some possible solutions in this thread: (http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?t=7915)

I will try them out when I come home and keep you posted.

Re: VirtualBox spiking CPU usage

I noticed this too with virtualbox_bin 3.0.8, 1 core at 100% for a really simple game (tried it with 2 VNs). No idea how much CPU it takes up in Windows though. I also have one similar game that only uses around 20% CPU, so I thought it was just due to bad programming.
