Unable to download packages after adding user [SOLVED]

I've been with Ubuntu for a while, and decided to try Arch.

Anyways I've gone through the whole installation process from the CD instead of FTP. The whole thing was successful, went back in with adduser command and went through all that, but when I try to download packages (mainly 'pacman -Syu) it fails to sync with the severs. I do 'ifconfig' and it says I'm connected to my router and all. So why can't I download the packages?

If I sound like a noob or anything sorry, only been with Linux for 6 months.
