One computer, two keyboards, different functions

I just plugged in a separate extra num-pad to my computer, with the idea to have it to control some functions in the computer... but how? Two keyboards, different layouts. I can plug one of the keyboards to Ps/2 if that helps (both are USB today).

Assuming it's getting in the way of your current keyboard and you need a way to completely isolate it, you could try using Xvfb with an alternate configuration file and configure that file to list your numpad. Then, you could use perhaps Openbox, xmodmap or xbindkeys to bind it to stuff.

A last keyword that might be of help: xev

Windows was made for looking at success from a distance through a wall of oversimplicity. Linux removes the wall, so you can just walk up to success and make it your own.
