Finished the whole installation process and have my desktop enviorment running, only problem is I cant set much anything else up without a root password. During the installation I don't remember setting a root password, I just left it blank, but when I try to login as root from the myhost desktop setting, it doesn't work. Also when using root terminals and su commands it continues to ask. I've tried everything I thought I would have made it just in case. So I tried to boot into single-user mode to fix it (-Single -S and for the heck of it, -s), but I get "Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!" Any help to help get back root privileges is greatly appreciated.

why don't you set a password for root?
after login type passwd to set password
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

I think my question might have been a little unclear, sorry about that, but I can't log in as root at all, therefore I am unable to do superuser priveleges or make a new root password.

or you can use the install cd and mount the root partition, chroot and run passwd

Apparently Skottish's suggestion worked, I was able to set a new password. Thanks anyways for both suggestions wonder
