Hope you didn't forget to install some catalyst package that provides fglrx module.
As for catalyst-switch i'm not sure is it working....

That could be the case. It should be supported, although i have found only 1 related post and there user didn't succeed: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get- … eeded.html
But what about catalyst packages without pxp support - like from [catalyst] repo - did you check them? Is aticonfig also returning "No supported adapters detected"?

I have a dual monitor setup, in amdcccle Display Manager, the setting is "Multi-display desktop with displays". Everything is ok in catalyst 11.4, I can move mouse/windows across the two monitors. Now, whenever I upgrade to 11.5, there is an "invisible monitor" between my 2 monitors, if I move the mouse to pass the edge of the first monitor on the left, the mouse disappears then I have to continue moving the mouse for a few seconds then it will appear on the second monitor on the right. Once the mouse is on the right monitor I can only move it in the first 1/4 of the screen. If I move the mouse back to the first monitor on the left, I have to pass the "invisible screen" as well.
My system:

No , it's this :
-GLDirect=true
+GLDirect=false
If GLDirect is set to false , and i try with
KWIN_DIRECT_GL=1 kwin --replace &
, the driver/KWin are crashing , but , if GLDirect is set to true and then try with
KWIN_DIRECT_GL=1 kwin --replace &
, everything works. Didn't thought these two would be in conflict.

@ngochai:
"invisible screen" could be related with mouse lag...
Try to add Option "SWCursor" "true" into both your Device Sections:

If that will not help - then fill bug report at http://ati.cchtml.com

it looks like your gfx rly isn't supported
I found similiar issue here: Catalyst 11.5 can't recognize HD 6650m

[catalyst] repo update:
catalyst package was updated so it may work with kernel26 2.6.38.8 which just land in [core] repo.
If you are using catalyst package please be sure to update both those packages before rebooting your system.

Will the catalyst package be updated any time soon for 2.6.39 compatibility? I just ran an update and noticed that it isn't with the latest [core] kernel.

xvba-video is now open-source
from http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=n … &px=OTU2Ng:
Gwenolé Beauchesne, the developer behind much of this code at Splitted Desktop Systems, is leaving the company. Yesterday he emailed me to inform me that he would be departing soon and that "all work will be committed to our GIT, including xvba-video." That code has now been pushed to Git today.
While xvba-video is now open-source, it turns out that it's a simplified implementation. When AMD opened up XvBA, it turns out they didn't open up the full specification. "xvba-video will be in a 'simplified' form because AMD again failed to release further documentation/API specifications." The closed-up xvba-video relies upon some of the XvBA API that AMD hasn't yet publicly documented.
xvba-video wasn't updated for months and i was actually thinking that maybe it cannot be better, that maybe it's a dead project already - i've heard many bad words about xvba, that it's broken by design etc etc. So is open-sourcing really good news? I don't think so. Simplified implementation means that it's cripled . Also i don't think that there can be better developer/maintainer than gbeauchesne who did awesome job with it.
I've already tested xvba-video 8.0 (you can grab it from AUR, thank you Huulivoide for all your good work in maintaining this package) but it's not working good for me, it's not stable at all, guess it's because of that "simplified implementation".
xvba-video in version 7.8 works pretty well and i will leave it in [catalyst] repo. So no update for now.

I'm having some problems with pxp catalyst (not sure the reason why)
- I installed the catalyst-total package from the PKGBUILD
- installed catalyst-utils with pxp support
- I executed the vgaswitcheroo switch to trade from the Intel card (that is powered, by default, at boot) to my ATI HD 5650.
- done a pxp-catalyst-util command to switch to the amd card
- followed this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AT … figuration and done a "aticonfig --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf" and edited the xorg.conf file manually
- edited rc.local, so that the intel card is disabled by default at boot (using vgaswitcheroo)
now, after all this, when gdm is started all I get is a black screen with no messages. no keyboard command is recognized.
Any ideas/sugestions in how to resolve this?

Using a HP dv6-3180sp: Intel Core i5-460M, ATI HD5650 1gb

@Aarin:
i don't have intel and never used vgaswitcheroo but:
- you don't need to install catalyst-utils-pxp if you've got catalyst-total-pxp already installed (didn't get file conflicts?)
- /etc/X11/xorg.conf file should be present before running pxp_switch_catalyst script (also look at the output of this scrpit, is it error-free?)

@Vi0L0
Well I was wrong. I only have catalyst-total 11.5-5 (that has pxp support)
Removed the vgaswitcheroo stuff and now I'm only relying on the pxp-switch to use the AMD card.

Someone is getting a Segmentation Fault (not sure if Xorg or catalyst drivers)
PS: yes, pxp-switch is running error free.
PPS: I use [testing] so I have a different Xorg that the one that's in [extra]. could that be part of the problem?
EDIT: removed the pastebin url and put all the text in a code box

Using a HP dv6-3180sp: Intel Core i5-460M, ATI HD5650 1gb

I am experiencing X lockup and display corruption when attempting to change VT. The corruption is always in the top left corner, a long multi-coloured strip. When this happens, X pegs one core on my CPU at 100% indefinitely, and keyboard entry becomes unresponsive, no response to pressing any of the lock keys. Can SSH in and reboot cleanly.
Nothing untoward appears in X's log:
[ 223.866] (II) AIGLX: Suspending AIGLX clients for VT switch
[ 223.868] (II) fglrx(0): Backup framebuffer data.
[ 223.912] (II) fglrx(0): Backup complete.
I am running x86_64 with testing and kde-unstable enabled, using catalyst-hook and the minimize-fix Xorg server, all fully up to date. Card is an ATi HD5870
My xorg.conf, nothing out of the ordinary:
Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "Arch"
Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
EndSection
Section "Module"
Load "record"
Load "glx"
Load "extmod"
Load "dbe"
Load "dri"
Load "xtrap"
Load "GLcore"
Load "freetype"
EndSection
Section "Monitor"
#DisplaySize 520 330 # mm

ModelName "DELL 2405FPW"
HorizSync 30.0 - 81.0

# Option "DPMS"
EndSection
Section "Device"
Identifier "Card0"
Driver "fglrx"
VendorName "ATI Technologies Inc"
BusID "PCI:2:0:0"

Monitor "Monitor0"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 24
EndSubSection
EndSection
Section "DRI"
Mode 0666
EndSection
The corruption and X lockup occur with kwin compositing disabled or enabled. It doesn't tend to occur if I attempt to switch on a clean KDE start, though it will as soon as any window is opened.
Any idea what's causing this?
Thanks
Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

@Vi0L0
Well I was wrong. I only have catalyst-total 11.5-5 (that has pxp support)
Removed the vgaswitcheroo stuff and now I'm only relying on the pxp-switch to use the AMD card.i've tried running X again with no success (same problem). Here is the Xorg.0.log: http://pastebin.com/wsAjmLGf

Well - i think that problem lays here:
[ 23.886] 3: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so (0x7f9a44615000+0xf669) [0x7f9a44624669]
[ 23.887] 4: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so (xdl_xs110_atiddxPxPreInit+0x16e) [0x7f9a44dd75ee]
xserver is loading both modules.
First of all check is nomodeset or vga=YOUR_value is added into kernel options.
If it is then...
In catalyst/radeon switch simple adding fglrx into MODULES is the trick (it's done automatically by pxp_switch_catalyst), but it looks like it's not working well with catalyst/intel switch. Maybe try to blacklist intel module (im not sure is intel right name, maybe it's something like i915) into modprobe (edit /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf and add blacklist intel or blacklist i915).
Anyway let me know was that helpful - if yes then i will modify the script.

@LadFromWales:
looks like a good material for a bug report at http://ati.cchtml.com
but first check what will happen if you will remove everything from xorg.conf's Section "Module"

catalyst 11.6:
Whats new:
- some bugfixes? (hope they at least fixed mouse lag)
- GNOME3 support still sux
I've added powerXpress support into catalyst-total, this package won't land in repo thou.
AUR was updated, repo (edit:) also
