@Vi0L0
So the suggested way of making catalyst work on gnome 3.14 is using the [catalyst] repo, xorg 1.16 from official repos, reinstalling libnm-gtk and using a dm different from GDM (or just console login and startx)? The other thing which is still not clear to me, is if i have a laptop with an integrated and a discrete graphics card, do I still need the *-pxp packages, or is PowerXpress already implemented in the main package?
Im unable to guarantee that it will work, just saying that in my case gnome "crash" was not related to catalyst. The answer for your first question is yes. Use dm(or startx) other than gdm, its possible that libnm-gtk reinstall wont be needed.
As for the pxp support the answer is also yes, it should work just fine with the main package.

Ignore this,
Decided to start a thread about it instead.

I'm pretty sure that you didn't update catalyst-total-hd234k to version 13.1-28, because there I fixed conflict with ati-dri.
@vipo:
is this some kind of pxp notebook?
AMD often had problems with mobile gpus... Have you tried catalyst 14.9 + [xorg115] repo?Yup it s a laptop with integrated intel 3000 + amd 7690m xt graphics.
I know it worked fine with Xorg 1.15 so i am downgrading now and re-installing the catalyst drivers (i removed them). I will report back.
I had a configuration like yours and got the same error message.
Then I followed the vi0l0's suggestion by downgrade xorg to xorg115 and it worked.
