Hi everyone!
Second day on catalyst-test 10.4-444 (using Toshiba A200 with HD2600, kernel 2.6.32.10-1, xorg-server 1.7.5.902-1).
First of all - it works! I mean 1.7.5 can deal with fglrx 10.4 and it's perfect.
Second - I can't believe that I finally become able to switch users in X.org. Previously each time it led to total system freeze.
So now I'm almost happy and this meaningless post is just because of my wish to share my happiness.
Thank you guys from fglrx-linux team, thank you Vi0L0!

LOL, in fresh catalyst 10.3 archive_files/packages/Mandriva/ directory there is a good old original not-fixed fglrx-2.6.33.patch - the same thats not working on our i686 systems
Im wondering will it work for mandriva

Interesting. Ati seems a bit more responsive, in this period: 10.4 supports xorg-server 1.8 (and also a patched kernel 2.6.34, if I correctly understood). now this OpenGL 4.0 beta driver. I hope something has changed...

catalyst 10.4 runs on my kernel 2.6.34-rc2 without problems. I didn't change anything in the configuration of kernel26-rc from aur.
Only problem is that my PC does not power off it just says on the screen that it should now be powered off...

aaah... also basing on extracted directories naming - theres no xserver 1.7 support
so its 10.3++
Edit: Umm... you may safely change AUR's catalyst PKGBUILD to build it, just change name and md5sum
I dont even know howto test this new opengl features so i believe its kinda useless right now, but still its very nice that they delivered it so quickly!

Well, its not ati, its that kernel and xorg didnt change too much with the version updates. So if more things will change, i foresee that ati will lag behind months.. but ogl 4 is cool.

its very easy to check out - run amdcccle
for me opengl lib version is: 3.2.9737
so i guess no ogl 4 in beta

$ fglrxinfo
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
OpenGL version string: 3.3.9826 BETA Compatibility Profile Context
cuz my card isnt ogl 4 compatible
Phoronix: Woah, AMD Releases OpenGL 4.0 Linux Support!

Opengl 4 - yes, for evergreen only
Opengl 3.3 - for older ones (i mean those which supports DX 10.x - so r6xx/r7xx if im right)
Edit: this driver is rendering well known ugly watermark "Testing use only"
i guess (edit: know now) you may fix it by overwriting /etc/ati/signature with older one, ie 10.3 signature:
echo 'd86529c71a19f73bcb899faf02ef234a:e04b1ef62834c60bfbbaaf9d60c21373ee5c11f25934b66f82a9aa9b32dc1772:bd551da52b7c910df9b1ac9b61d91328be074ba67b7fce5ffdb9fc9d33dc1479bd001ca42b289109feb0ac9b60d9152ce05748fe7b78ce59f8bbfbcc33d81478' > /etc/ati/signature
but who cares - 10.4 beta rulz =]

Oh wow! I wasn't expecting http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=34773 to actually worg with my 5770 card + the latest xorg-server from the default archlinux repo but it actually is working!
I do have to say that in a "gl" desktop environment (kde with effects) that the glxgears score is extremely low for this card... just ~1700 fps.. my precious nvidia cars had ~3000 fps and that was also with all the fancy stuff enabled so something is clearly wrong.. Oh well i'm just glad this (beta?) driver is working ^_^

Yes, xbmc works fine and without flickering with both ARB and software rendering. Just change xbmc settings.
Thank you very much!!! had at least 5 months without solving the problem

I'd like to ask for a favor, from catalyst users. Can you check if OpenTTD stutters/lags for you on fullscreen? I'm trying to find out if a problem is caused by catalyst, or SDL.
Install with pacman -S openttd. When you are in game, go to "Options" select your monitors native resolution and check the fullscreen box. Start a new game. Does the mouse lag? Does scrolling through arrow keys lag?
Thanks!

Ive also installed openttd-opengfx and openttd-opensfx.
And nope - everything is very fine here.

I was really hoping it was a catalyst issue. Now, I don't know where to look :S Well, thanks for testing.

catalyst-test 10.4 is working well for me with xorg-server-catalyst-maximize-fix
Fans seem quieter too, although I am still unable to control the fan on my secondary card. (2x HD5770)
Thanks for the PKGBUILD.

Been following the development of the open drivers for a while now since I saw Handy's thread over at UF (back when I was an Ubuntu user) and was one of the early people to put the 32 kernel and the xorg-edgers PPA and get ATI goodness. Never got 33 working in Ubuntu, but using 2.6.33-rt-ice with bfs + ati drivers on Arch and it's not only super-fast and super-stable, it's also helping me to get more ladies. Ok I lied about that last bit. But seriously though, the pace of development is very impressive. Nice
Please be patient, I'm a n00b on Arch (only 2 years on Ubuntu) so I may say something stupid!
PS thank you to all those who contribute awesomeness to the AUR and the main packages, you guys have made my computer so much more fun to use!

catalyst-test works well too for me, with Direct2D too. It's fast on KDE 4
Now, I am trying UVD2

Direct2d works fine? Are you sure is really activated?
