Morning all.
Everything's cool with Arch atm, but I can't get my mic to work.
I use a Hercules Digifire 7.1 sound card, which uses the cs46xx (crystal fusion is it?) module, and works fine. Since I've been playing ut2004 on here, I want to get my mic working, so I can use the VOIP in-game.
Unfortunately, even if I put all my volumes to maximum in alsamixer, the mic doesn't work. I mean, I can hear myself in the speakers when I talk into the mic, but there's no input received by recording programs, skype, etc etc.
I can't seem to change the volume for 'mic boost' in alsamixer, not sure if that's a related issue.
Any ideas anyone?

Dear Tmadhavan,
Did you resolve your issue. I am trying my skype setup to work and that's why asking you .
If you could provide any feedback, thank you greatly.

I use a Hercules Game Theater XP sound board, which AFAIK uses the same chipset; at any rate, the same driver.
To get the mic working, set the "Mic" channel to to "Capture" in the mixer app of your choice, and mute the channel (so no feedback). That should do the trick.
With some applications, it seems also necessary to set ADC to Capture. Funny enough, only the mic input will be captured, not the full sound as would be expected ...
Hope this helps,

I can't quite undestand what should I do when you say "set the "Mic" channel to to "Capture" in the mixer app". How do I set "mic" to "capture"?
Anyway, maybe everything is working for me, I just trying to figure out proper working setup fos skype.
Thank you very much, Nggalai

It works fine here. If you have the proper drivers loaded and unmuted mic in you mixer app, I believe it should work.
