Hi,
a few days ago I wanted to update my archlinux. virtualbox-modules didn't like kernel 2.6.27 (error while upgrading), so I removed the package. Today I tried to install virtualbox-modules again, and there were no error messages, but after installing "modprobe vboxdrv" failed. I have found this thread and followed the instructions there. First I thought it would work because after recompiling I could do "modprobe vboxdrv", but starting a virtual machine does give an error that vboxdrv was not loaded:
VirtualBox kernel driver not installed. The vboxdrv kernel module was either not loaded or /dev/vboxdrv was not created for some reason. Re-setup the kernel module by executing '/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup' as root.
VBox status code: -4 (VERR_INVALID_HANDLE).
Result Code:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component:

Interface:

"vbox_build_module: command not found"
I want to use the ose edition - I thought you don't need that command there?
Thanks for the post,

ok sry, i'm using the close source one. but after a kernel update you have to rebuild the modules. have you already tried to install the modules from aur!? virtualbox-modules http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=9810
after a succesfull build it's important to reload the module "modprobe vboxdrv" or to reboot your machine.

@arch0r: I have reinstalled the package from ABS for kernel 2.6.27 as it was shown in the thread I linked to in the first post.
Today there was an update to virtualbox-modules 2.0.2-4, I did modprobe vboxdrv but VirtualBox gives the same error message.

Thanks I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get virtualbox working this fixed it right up I thought all I needed to do was add vboxdrv and vboxnetflt to the daemons in /etc/rc.conf. Anyway I have it working now thx:D
