First OpenOffice, now Xarchiver...
Why this beta packages in Arch?
I use Xarchiver for long time in Arch, and i never have any problem. Now broken four or five times in this week.
Why repository Testing if program go directly to Extra?
This is so sad. Hope Arch don't go to this way. ![]()

+1 on the bug reporting.
It's the most effective way to bring it to the devs' attention.
My roomates said they were going to get me rims for Christmas, or a CB radio so I can talk to other car beds; that'll be hot. Might get a stereo, too. My sister said I should get an alarm.

FYI, Openoffice was never a beta release. It was 3.0-RC4 which was known to be exactly the same as 3.0.

Even though the xarchiver release is labelled 'beta', it is the release that distros and users should be using. The download page on the xarchiver official website links to 0.5.0beta2, which would suggest that it is the release they are offering to users. If that wasn't the case, they would offer it as a development or testing version, but as you can see at the bottom of the page, there is a separate 'development version' available.
Arch devs have done nothing wrong here, nor changed their policies in any way. ![]()

Why argue about this, Microsoft releases beta operating systmes to the stores and sell them as the final product.
Now, more seriously, as dyscoria pointed out, there are some beta releases that are intended for general users use, since sometimes the "stable" release is broken or the beta release is where some usability was restored/added, which is needed.

Mplayer is a perfect example. It's been at the -rc stage for years now.

The best way to get an explanation for these types of things is to ask the person that updated it themselves. Your starting point there is http://repos.archlinux.org/ , from which you can find out who it was, then obtain their email address and simply ask them. I'm sure most will be more than happy to explain.
Also I might add that phrases like "I hope this isn't how arch is going" because of one package you happened to use are kind of silly.... I mean.... you can't possibly be serious right? That's like saying "I saw a troll on the forums yesterday, I hope this isn't how the forums are going" or "it was cloudy yesterday, I hope this isn't how the weather will stay forever".
The suggestion box only accepts patches.
