Configure X server without a mouse

Hi,

I am just wondering if it is possible to make the Xserver not display a cursor. Right now I'm hiding the cursor with unclutter, but I'd like to configure the system in a way that it doesn't make me do that.

Thanks.

Re: Configure X server without a mouse

So don't load the mouse drivers. If you need the mouse, then use unclutter.
I don't get it. Or do you want to use the mouse but never know where the pointer is ? Cause that sounds like fun.

Re: Configure X server without a mouse

Option "AllowMouseOpenFail" "yes" (xorg.conf, ServerFlags section) is one idea and xf86-input-void is another.

Re: Configure X server without a mouse

Thanks for the ideas everyone. Too bad this Xserver still starts up with a cursor even though I have "AllowMouseOpenFail" "yes" in my ServerFlags section and am using xf86-input-void as my driver for my mouse.

BTW, invisible rats are not good for my needs because they make vimperator ticklish. And, as you know, it is very difficult to type words in text boxes when the mode keeps changing every time you accidentally brush the touchpad (last time I'm ever going to get a laptop with one of these infernal things). Invisible rats also stubbornly prevent me from switching windows under certain window configurations when I disable the driver completely. The cursor is still there and wont budge from its annoying position at the part of the screen that makes firefox completely unresponsive with vimperator bindings. FYI, wmii user here on a MBP. I can't wait until I can have a graphical environment without a mouse if I so choose!

EDIT: Rats!
