How to Burn dvd isos using DVD-R/RW's safely?

roll
Hello friends,
I have 2 dvd-rw burners from Sony. Now a days I am getting trouble in burning DVD iso files using DVD-R/-RW/+RW discs. I tried k3b,brasero and by command line issuing
#growisofs -dvd-compat -Z /dev/dvd=image.iso
After some time of disc activity all the programs exits with error. I tried discs from different vendors (India) on both of the dvd writers. At the same time cdroms and cdrws are working right. I used arch linux, Fedora8 distros. Please suggest a stable & safe way to burn dvd iso files!

wink
Sorry, i forgot to attach the debugging output from k3b during burnig attempt;
System
-----------------------
K3b Version: 1.0.5

KDE Version: 3.5.10
QT Version:  3.3.8
Kernel:      2.6.27-ARCH
Devices
-----------------------
SONY DVD RW AW-G170A 1.71 (/dev/sr0, /dev/sg3) [CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD+R DL] [DVD-ROM, DVD-R Sequential, DVD-R Dual Layer Sequential, DVD-R Dual Layer Jump, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW Restricted Overwrite, DVD-RW Sequential, DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD+R Dual Layer, CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW] [SAO, TAO, RAW, SAO/R96P, SAO/R96R, RAW/R16, RAW/R96P, RAW/R96R, Restricted Overwrite, Layer Jump]

Burned media
-----------------------
DVD-R Sequential

Used versions
-----------------------
growisofs: 7.1

growisofs
-----------------------
Executing 'builtin_dd if=/dev/fd/0 of=/dev/sr0 obs=32k seek=0'
:-[ PERFORM OPC failed with SK=3h/POWER CALIBRATION AREA ERROR]: Input/output error

growisofs command:
-----------------------
/usr/bin/growisofs -Z /dev/sr0=/dev/fd/0 -use-the-force-luke=notray -use-the-force-luke=tty -use-the-force-luke=tracksize:1596555 -dvd-compat -speed=18 -use-the-force-luke=bufsize:32m

K3b alsao complains about "OPC error and try 1x speed" and "I/O error; write failed"

Re: How to Burn dvd isos using DVD-R/RW's safely?

Is the /tmp folder big enough for a dvd? I had a problem once where I forgot to set a big enough partition size and had to use my home folder, maybe worth checking.
