no cd drive

hey i got an lenovo x200 laptop. it doesnt have a cd drive.

i do have a pclinuxos installation on it and i tried copying the files from the live cd into /boot/live and making an entry in my grub list for the boot (i think) but it kernel panics when i select it saying that it cant find the cdrom device. 

any ideas?

what is the best way to do this?

just tried the "fast install from an existing linux installation" method and kept getting kernel panics too.

Installing from USB stick should work fine. I installed Arch that way.

There are install images for usb available. Alternatively, you can copy the root partition of your existing Arch installation (if you have one) to the pendrive, if it's big enough.

I am in the same situation. I install using a USB key but PXE should also work as an alternative.
