Rio Karma kernel config request

Hi,

This is my first message after a first try of Archlinux on my old laptop, and I have to say I have been seduced. I have been a Linux users for 13 years and this distro is a breathe of fresh air! I like simplicity, and this distro does not make the error of many others: it's a "good" simplicity because the technical stuff is not hidden but on the contrary exposed, well organised and kept to a minimum.

I have just noticed one thing in the config of the kernel, that may concern a few people: Rio Karma users (it's an mp3/ogg/flac player, now discontinued, but one of the best of its time, with many nice features). The Karma has a USB connection and uses a proprietary () filesystem called omfs. The omfs module is included in the kernel. However, only half of the karma support has been activated: although we have "CONFIG_USB_STORAGE_KARMA=y", we have also "# CONFIG_KARMA_PARTITION is not set". Therefore when I plug my Karma and load the omfs module, the device is recognised, but it is impossible to mount the filesystem, which makes it useless. I'd like to contact the maintainer of the kernel26 package to gently ask him if he could activate the CONFIG_KARMA_PARTITION option, as it does not make sense to have CONFIG_USB_STORAGE_KARMA activated alone. This option has been safely in many other distros.

I'll then be pleased to participate by preparing a PKGBUILD for omfsprogs (some utilisties to upload and a plugin for Amarok. I am used to creating RPMs, so I'll have to learn the Arch way first smile

Re: Rio Karma kernel config request

I have just created an account, but the password has not been sent to me after 30 minutes (although upon registration it said the nickname was successfully registered). The email address was valid and I found nothing in my spams. The problem is, I cannot register again with the same name (zebulon), nor ask for my password to be sent again.

Is the bugs server known to have a long latency ?

Thanks in advance.
