Can't use del in VIM inside screen

When Im using VIM inside a screen session, the del key shows in the lower end of vim the character "^[[3~" and it upper-cases the letter instead of removing it. Does anybody knows anyway to fix this?

By default in gnome-terminal the delete key generates a Escape Sequence "^[[3~", which works pretty well in bash but in VIM it upper-cases everything...

I have no problem with vim inside screen, but zsh with vim mode has the same problem as yours ..
