lxde

hi all :>
i switched from openbox/pypanel to lxde today and it's great! i'm totally amazed and i suggest everyone to have a look at it!
but there are two small issues i couldn't figure out yet. but i'm convinced that you can help me wink

1. how can i add further icons to the desktop?
2. does anybody have a decent/good looking image for the panel. the default one is quite ugly big_smile

best regards

Re: lxde

1. Place the icons in the Desktop folder.
2. There are lots at gnome-look.org, search for panels.

Re: lxde

pcmanfm is the desktop manager as well, so you should configure the desktop icons behavior in the pcmanfm configuration.

Arranging the icons is briefly described here:

Re: lxde

adding icons to the desktop isn't the problem anymore. but is it possible to move the icons on the desktop or do i have to use the default arrangements (date, type, size, date ... )? apperently pcmanfm can only arrange them in a row ...

Re: lxde

@ VirtualRider, I find it beautiful in a simple way, in fact I find it more appealing than xfce.

@ arch0r, well, lxde is far from having all features integrated yet, pcmanfm is in constant development right now as well as the whole lxde DE.

Re: lxde

I didn't use it much and i guess it is possible to change the look, but my first impression was that it just didn't feel right to me - can't explain that further.

But i'll have an eye on it because, for me, it seems to become a complete DE beside gnome, kde and xfce.

Re: lxde

and some years later , distanced from the original post.

As of end of 2012 using knoppix with LXDE ... Same problem or rather query regarding

- LXDE
-Single click config

How to move or arrange icons?

I found about aligning that when I at time of writing this you can simply hold shift key while drag selecting icons
and hoover stop at one of the selected icons. then holding shift righ click on it (even though its likely unmarked the
last icon) That will give you the menu thats difficult to access with a single click... Then choose the grid or other options.
Now perhaps if you were to select and hold shift but hoover finish at another set or icon that touches the first then this
second sorting would touch and sort from each others refference... Am I right? or is in this case on grid align perfectly enough for all icons to be grid aligned or other such....

Anyway best of luck
moving items is not easy a keyboard supplement or key to move. hold catch the single click action would be good and surely exists ....

Re: lxde

hi blankpr, welcome to the forums. Sorry but necro-bumping is generally discouraged here. Also, we only support Arch Linux; Knoppix has their own forums. Good luck. smile

Closing.
