gnome, password and appearance

Hello everybody,

I've some troubles with gnome:

1) it doesn't keep the appearance settings after a reboot
2) at start, gnome always asks for my WEP key, then a window appears and asks me to introduce a password. But I've to enter the wep key and the password after each boot, again and again...

Can somebody help me to solve this ?

Thank you very much smile

By the way, I hope that there aren't too much mistakes, english isn't my mothertongue. Sorry.

Re: gnome, password and appearance

As for the second question, I guess you're using NeworkManager, so check this out wink

already included in the latest gdm.
he needs to merge some configuration. look in /etc/pam.d for files with .pacnew .usualy you have gdm.pacnew and gnome-screensaver.pacnew and maybe passwd.pacnew.

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

ook in /etc/pam.d for files with .pacnew .usualy you have gdm.pacnew and gnome-screensaver.pacnew and maybe passwd.pacnew.

What do you mean by "merge" ?

Here's what i got with ls:

ls /etc/pam.d
chage      chsh               groupadd   login     passwd~  su       usermod
chfn       gdm                groupdel   newusers  polkit   sudo
chgpasswd  gdm-autologin      groupmems  other     shadow   useradd
chpasswd   gnome-screensaver  groupmod   passwd    sshd     userdel

Re: gnome, password and appearance

just look at that link that @finferflu gave you and look if you have those lines in specific files.. if you don't have put it there.
after you login , you have a checkbox that tell you to not show again.

Re: gnome, password and appearance

Hello wonder,

I've already added those lines but it asks me my wep and a password for keyring over and over.

after you login , you have a checkbox that tell you to not show again.

I would be gald to see that checkbock. unfortunately there's nothing similar to this at startup.

By the way (for my second question) something new happened when i opened the apperance menu: unable to open gnome-daemon-settings. Error could be caused by bonobo or a kde application (sorry i couldn't copy/paste the message).

Re: gnome, password and appearance

I re-install gnome-settings-daemon and the appearance remains the same. One problem solved !

However I need help for the keyring. What can I do for this ? It's very annoying hmm

Thanks smile
