Re: Guitar Tab Player

What was your problem with tuxguitar?

Re: Guitar Tab Player

Download this soundfont and from Tuxguitar > Tools > Plugins > Java Sound Api plugin > Configure > Use custom soundbank >> and browse to the downloaded soundfont. You can also find soundfonts for your taste from Hammersound.

Re: Guitar Tab Player

this is what i get when i compile it from source

[bran@ra tuxguitar-src-1.0]$ sudo make -s
Password:
# JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/
# JAVA=
# JAVAC=
# SWT_JAR=
which: no javac in (/opt/kde/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/opt/java/jre/bin:/usr/bin/perlbin/site:/usr/bin/perlbin/vendor:/usr/bin/perlbin/core:/opt/qt/bin:/opt/kde/bin)
/opt/java/jre/bin/java
/bin/sh: ant: command not found
make: *** [TuxGuitar/tuxguitar.jar] Error 127

im going to try and use the jet installer now that doesnt need jvm

edit: it installs fine

Re: Guitar Tab Player

TuxGuitar is in [commuity], you didn't need to compile it.

Re: Guitar Tab Player

Guitar Pro works perfectly with Wine, even RSE. If you don't want tı pay, demo version of Guitar Pro can also play the files without RSE but you can not compose with that.

Re: Guitar Tab Player

I just installed timidity and used Alsa in wine. It worked. But you can also use wineasio drivers and use alsa with jack frontend. This way you can even give output of GP to Ardour and use a vst from there. But if you are into ProAudio you should use Logic or Pro Tools. Linux just isn't enough. I am using Linux in my notebook but in pro life Mac rules. I never used any thing other than Mac in a studio. (Sometimes they give you Pro Tools in a Windows, but is not that different) Ardour is making progress but there isn't that many plugins up to par with the ones I am familiar with.

Anyway, if you are not that serious use jack with ardour and wineasio. It would be an educating experince. Ardour has vst support but since I am a fan of Pro Tools it does not mean that much to me and it is very buggy. At least it was buggy last winter. How it is now? I haven't used Ardour since that. Did they made much progress? Back than, even using Reaper by wine was a way better than Ardour.
