.htaccess without apache
Can I get whatever it's called without installing apache? I think lighttpd honors .htaccess files and I need something to "protect" pages with.

lighttpd doesn't support .htaccess, everything is done in its config file.

I use thttpd and it supports some basic authorizations via .htpasswd.
Also, I think it's strange lighttpd doesn't
