After upgrading to Gutenprint 5.2.1, CUPS fails

Have an Epson Stylus Photo R380. Printer doesn't start and complains about rastertogutenprint.5.0 being missing. Creating a symlink to rastertogutenprint.5.2 makes CUPS say "The PPD version (34313515) is not compatible with Gutenprint 5.2.1". Apparently this is already in extra, so should be fixed soon. Attempted manual rebuild of CUPS from the PKGBUILD in ABS, but that didn't fix it.

Just found http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=46091 . This shouldn't be required. Someone fix it?

Have you run the recommended commands from post.install message?

What kind of ppd file is this? Taken from foomatic, cups, gutenprint or a custom one offered by someone else?

I had the same problem with an Epson R1800. I deleted the printer and recreated it. It's fixed.

Re: After upgrading to Gutenprint 5.2.1, CUPS fails

Running `/usr/sbin/cups-genppdupdate' and restarting cups (as pointed out in gutenprint's post-install message) did the trick for me.

Re: After upgrading to Gutenprint 5.2.1, CUPS fails

I restart CUPS multiple times, deleted and re-added my printer, and ran cups-genppdupdate all in various combinations. My printer is an Epson Stylus CX6600. Originally I was getting that gutenprint compatibility error, now when I print I'm getting a solid black page!

veranyon, you might want to follow this thread instead. Unfortunately, it doesn't contain a solution other than downgrading ghostscript.
