For the past few years I have been using my own homebrewed kernel (so I can load only the modules that I actually need, thus conserving memory) but recently I switched to an NVidia card for better gaming... and I have to use the generic Arch-compiled kernel in order to use NV's proprietary modules.
So anyhow, whenever I boot to the standard Arch kernel (2.6.27.1) my /proc/bus/usb folder is empty, and lsusb also comes up empty. The usb core module is loaded, and I went ahead and added usblp just in case, but that didn't help. I have to boot with my homebrewed kernel (which has usbcore and usblp in memory, rather than as modules) in order to print anything.
Any suggestions on what I might be missing? I'd just use my own kernel full time if I could get the NV driver to compile, or the Arch kernel full time if I can get the USB handling to work.
