The problem in VirtualBox might be that one which VirtualBox has with recent kernels and pata drivers (or sata, or something along those lines). I haven't tried it for a while, so I don't really know the solution, maybe someone else does? When VirtualBox broke I basically switched over to doing my tests on real hardware (USB-sticks). Try googling? Maybe you could try changing 'pata' to 'ide' in /lib/initcpio/mkinitcpio.conf? Or maybe it's some problem with sata? I vaguely remember reading something about some 'legacy IDE' setting or something. Sorry I can't help more, I was actually hoping VirtualBox might get fixed ...

I'm sorry, you're the first person who has said they have problems downloading via ftp. Another possibility is to get the source from svn and build your own larch package repository (it's very easy, there are instructions included) - that's what people who want larch on 64-bit have to do anyway because I haven't got a 64-bit machine.

no worry about, larch scripts is a great package an you must be proud of it...
it's great just make and livecd typing three commands. It is not advertising.
