Hi.
I've been trying to install Arch Linux in my desktop, but there are a couple of things that make my attempts fail.
First, when I run the Arch Live CD and try to install it, it gives me this error:
Kernel panic - not syncing: IO-APIC + timer dosen't work! try using the 'noapic' kernel parameter
When I edit the grub line (in the end of the line i write noapic) for booting the cd, I manage to install Arch, but then, when i try to boot the system, it gives me
Error 11 : Unrecognized device string
and this happens whether I change menu.lst to include noapic or not.
What can I do in this case?
If it helps, I've got an Asus M2N-MX SE Plus motherboard with an Athlon X2 4050e.

Please list your grub config file.
Windows was made for looking at success from a distance through a wall of oversimplicity. Linux removes the wall, so you can just walk up to success and make it your own.

Reinventing the wheel is fun. You get to redefine pi.

Problem solved. I noticed that he "broke" the kernel line into 2 new lines, and that prevented grub from initializing Arch. After I corrected it, it worked like a charm. Thanks anyway.
